Letter of Recomendation

Letters of Recommendation

Recommendation letters are a crucial piece of your graduate school application.  An effective letter should provide Admission Committees with an assessment of your potential as a graduate student and/or researcher. This letter aims to reveal a clearer and favorable picture of your experience, achievements, contributions and skills communicated by an experienced recommender.

Any student going to study abroad requires an academic letter of recommendation from at least 2 or 3 professors or other recommenders. For graduate students – usually college professors or work supervisors can issue recommendation letters.

Potential employers, scholarship committees, and graduate school admissions committees depend heavily on recommendation letters to gain insight into applicants’ personal strengths, character, and accomplishments. This kind of information cannot be readily gleaned from transcripts and test scores. So, it is in your best interest to help your recommenders write the most accurate and detailed letters possible.

A Letter of Recommendation is very important part of your application to universities, because it provides credibility to your whole profile by experienced professors and/or supervisors who have already worked with you. An outstanding Letter of Recommendation could be very important part of Admission Committee’s decision on whether to accept you into a graduate program or not and/or to award you with a scholarship or not.
